Popular sports author Fred Bowen thinks one of the best things about writing books is getting to talk about them! He's been a big sports fan since he was a kid growing up in Marblehead, MA. He also writes a weekly kids' sports column called "The Score" for The Washington Post.
Bowen's best childhood memories are from playing Little League and basketball. He still recalls homeruns, bad calls, and comebacks from those games. In his childhood days, he devoured sports fiction right along with the sports section.
"Sports have greatly enriched my life," Bowen said, "And my columns and books give me a chance to share my enthusiasm with young readers. I know that today's kids take their sports very seriously."
